Weblogic Domain administrator username and password is stored in DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift. When starting Weblogic Admin server by default it checked in DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift file for authentication.
The process of recovering weblogic password involves in Deleting/Moving DefaultAuthenticatorInit.idift and DefaultAuthenticatormyrealmInit.initialized files and recreating a new DefaultAuthenticatorInit.idift file with new username/password.
1. Setting environment for the domain you want to change the password
/oracle_home/user_projects/domains/domain_name/bin
. ./setDomainEnv.sh
2. Shutdown the Weblogic Admin server and Managed servers
3. Change to security directory and delete/backup DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift file
/oracle_home/user_projects/domains/domain_name/security
mv DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift.old
4. Create DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift file in security folder
/oracle_home/user_projects/domains/domain_name/security
$java weblogic.security.utils.AdminAccount weblogic {password} .
Example :$java weblogic.security.utils.AdminAccount weblogic welcome1 .
Note : Dot in the end of the above line indicates current directory
5. Delete/Backup DefaultAuthenticatormyrealmInit.initialized in
/oracle_home/user_projects/domains/dmain_name/servers/AdminServer/data/ldap
6. Update/create boot.properties file with weblogic administrator username and new password
/oracle_home/user_projects/domains/domain_name/servers/AdminServer/security/
